Hong Kong cuisine has evolved from a complex history of colonisation, mass post-war immigration and rapid economic development and modernisation. While the overriding culinary influence is from its neighbouring Guangdong (previously Canton) region where the majority of the population has roots in, there are distinct Western and modern traits that the local cuisine has adopted that have resulted in a unique ‘Hong-Kongese’ style. This experience will take you on an authentic gastronomic tour through Hong Kong from your own home, starting at the Dim Sum Parlour for morning tea (早茶), a lunch of Hong Kong’s version of a Charcuterie (烧腊铺), casual dinner at a East-meets-West teahouse (‘茶餐廳’), before rounding the day off with a trip to the late night dessert cafe (‘糖水鋪') just to make sure you’re full to the brim. You'll also learn about Hong Kong local eating culture, and also have the opportunity to make your own dim sum as an experience extra! All dishes can be substituted for similar items - your menu will be tailored to you and your party only. For additional dishes to any course, there are add-ons available.
I am a self-taught and passionate chef specialising in Asian cookery and bakery, born in UK with Hong Kong roots. Always my happiest self when in a kitchen, I started cooking as a hobby from a very young age - my first signature dish being an apple pizza from my first cookbook aged 7! After 8+ years working in finance in London and Hong Kong, the pandemic opened a door to turn my passion into a profession when I started a home-based Oriental takeaway and catering business. I now continue to serve authentic Chinese food to local customers, do private catering across London, and teach Chinese cooking classes at an award-winning cookery school. My personal mission is to share the authentic flavours, ingredients, techniques and health benefits of traditional Chinese cuisine with others, whilst being able to help create joy, connection and new experiences through good food and company. 大家食飯!
