Description

Fascinating New World wines – Lets embark here on a world tour of the most remarkable wine estates from Australia, New Zealand South Africa and South America. Here is just an example of how what we could potentially taste together and enjoy!
Please get in touch and enquire about this tasting in order to design the perfect experience according to the special occasion you want to celebrate and your budget.
1- From Australia, we could compare a Clare Valley Riesling, an Eden Valley Semillon or a superb Tasmanian Chardonnay. Here are some of my favourites:
Riesling 'Watervale', Mount Horrocks, Clare Valley // Semillon 'Louis', Henschke, Eden Valley // Chardonnay, Dawson and James, Tasmania
2- From South Africa, we could try a flavoursome Chenin Blanc from the high plateau of the Swartland or Western Cape.
Chenin Blanc 'Cat's craddle', Thorne & Daughters, Western Cape // Old Vines White Blend, Mullineux, Swartland
3- From Canada, we could discover a rare Pinot Noir from the Niagara Falls.
Pinot Noir 'Le Grand Clos', Le Clos Jordanne
4- From New Zealand, we could try a Hawkes Bay Syrah or a Pinot Noir from Central Otago.
Syrah 'The Gimblett', Trinity Hill, Gimblett Gravels // Pinot Noir 'Burnt Cottage vineyard', Burnt Cottage, Central Otago
5- From South America, I always like to open a rich and full bodied Uruguayan Tannat or an Argentinian Malbec.
Tannat blend 'Balasto', Bodega Garzon, Maldonado // Malbec 'Maia', Bodega Kaiken, Mendoza

About the HOMEtainer

My name is Romain, wine buyer, sommelier and wine entertainer in London and America for the last 15 years. I have successively been promoted as Head Sommelier for celebrity chefs such as Martin Blunos (Lygon Arms), the Roux Brothers (Sofitel London) and Marcus Wareing (The Savoy). From 2013 I became the wine director for Chiltern Firehouse in Marylebone where I have put together an exclusive and eclectic wine list for the most discerning and valued guests. Meanwhile I was also looking after the wine programmes for Chiltern Firehouse’s sister hotels and restaurants in America such as Chateau Marmont in Los Angeles or Sunset Beach in The Hamptons. Along these years I only had one rule: To make my guests feel at home while bringing them on a fun discovery wine journey. In order to do so and create memorable experiences, I love to revisit the classics, show some iconic wine labels, understand the new trends, explore unknown wine regions and search for the next big thing.
